Selecting the right microcement is not as difficult as it might seem because there are a few performance parameters that help to simplify the selection process:  

• Type and degree of traffic (residential or heavy commercial traffic?);

• Temperatures to which flooring will be exposed (underfloor heating?);

• Nature and duration of any chemical contact with the floor (kitchen? F&B?);

• Wet and dry service condition;

• Slip resistance requirements;

• Ease and method of cleaning (hygiene requirement);

• Moisture condition and temperature of the substrate (newly-laid screeds ?);

• Time available for application and curing of the microcement flooring;

• Ambient condition at time of installation (Winter low temperature ?);

• Microcement glossiness and other visual requirement;

The most appropriate microcement flooring for any situation will depend upon particular service conditions to which it will be subjected and the conditions under which it will be applied, and the choice should made in discussions between all the interested parties, including client, designer, contractor and supplier. It is not possible to provide a simple guide to the usage of different flooring types, since so many parameters can affect the decision for a particular situation.
